SK Hynix Shares Soar After Nvidia Fast-Tracks AI Memory Order

Nvidia ($NVDA) is playing Need for Speed with SK Hynix. SK Hynix's ($HY9H) stock jumped 6.5% after SK Group's chairman Chey Tae-won said Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang requested the newest HBM4 (High Bandwith Memory) 6 months faster from the previously announced second-half of 2025. On Monday, the memory manufacturer also announced a new 16-layer HMB, which will go into customers' hands in early 2025. The South Korean giant reported record revenue and profits in Q3 2024, and its stock is up 36% year-to-date. SK Hynix is world's No. 1 AI memory company as rival Samsung is in the process of getting its chips certified by Nvidia.

  • Next-generation HBM5 and HBM5E are planned to release between 2028 and 2030

  • The company's CEO at the time of the request said it was possible to move the production forward

Market Cap Plunge Makes Burberry Prime M&A Target

Biggest luxury marriage of the year? Miss Tweed, a specialist fashion website, reported that Italian puffer jacket manufacturer Moncler ($MONC) is reportedly considering a bid for British luxury brand Burberry ($BRBY). This comes amid a challenging year for Burberry, which propped a 40% decrease in share price and fueled the potential takeover rumor mill. Current company market cap stands at $3.9 billion, a steep decline from the $12.48 billion all-time high, and triggered the company's exit from FTSE after 15 years. A Moncler investor, LVMH ($MC), supposedly supports the deal through shareholder Bernard Arnault.

  • Burberry sales declined across all major markets, with China’s market having the most substantial loss at 19%

  • Moncler refused to comment on "unsubstantiated rumors"
